Cedarlane Natural Foods, Inc., a Los Angeles, California, establishment, is recalling approximately 1,050 pounds of chicken and noodle products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. These products are considered misbranded because the USDA mark of inspection does not appear on the package labels that are available to consumers.

The products subject to recall include:

* Cases containing six 16-ounce trays of “Wholesome Home Chicken & Noodles.” The sell-by date “09/21/11″ is ink jetted on the side of each case, and the Julian date “10264″ can be found on the label of each 16-ounce tray.

The establishment number “P-31673″ is listed inside the USDA mark of inspection printed on each case, but the mark of inspection is not printed on the individual tray labels, which are available to consumers. The chicken and noodle products were produced on Sept. 21, 2010, packaged on Sept. 23, 2010, and distributed to retail stores in Arizona, California, and Texas.

The distributor discovered the problem and notified Cedarlane Natural Foods, who then notified FSIS. It was determined that the USDA mark of inspection was dropped from labels for this particular production day due to a printing error. FSIS and Cedarlane Natural Foods have received no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, and FSIS has determined that the food safety risk associated with the products is remote.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the products are no longer available to consumers.

Consumers and media with questions about the recall should contact Operations Manager Dani Saar at (310) 886-7720 ext. 210.

Consumers with food safety questions can “Ask Karen,” the FSIS virtual representative available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov. The toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854) is available in English and Spanish and can be reached from l0 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday through Friday. Recorded food safety messages are available 24 hours a day.

Injured in Washington? If so, contact an Everett personal injury lawyer at our firm today.

Family Dollar Stores recalled about 67,000 remote-controlled toy tanks after getting five reports of the controllers overheating and melting, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

So far, no one has been burned by the toys, but consumers should take the toy away from children, remove the batteries and return the tank to the store for a refund, CPSC said. The toy — made in China and imported by Family Dollar — was sold nationwide only at Family Dollar stores from September 2010 through December 2010 for about $5 each.

The toy affected by the recall is the Authentic Heroes Target Practice Tank play set, a green toy tank attached by a cable to a gray, battery-powered controller. The toy moves forward and backward, rotates its turret and fires projectiles. The controller takes three AAA batteries and has the words “Target Practice Tank Play Set” on it.

Call Family Dollar at (800) 547-0359 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Last year, Family Dollar recalled millions of toy dart sets after two boys choked to death on the darts.
